Kisses

Took this picture on the computer the other day. I think this is how Henry feels often with us --so loved and so unsure of what to think about it. :)

First birthday!

We had Henry's birthday party on Memorial Day weekend because with the extended weekend it worked out great for all the grandparents to come up. It was so much fun to spend the whole weekend together. Henry was ever so slightly bashful at the beginning of the weekend, but giving kisses and really loving up on all the grandparents by the end. He was particularly interested in my dad's mustache and everyone's shoes and watches.

Tamika Garscia came out to the house to take pictures of the actual party. We kept the celebration really small with just grandparents just to make it more intimate and enjoyable for Henry. And enjoyable it was. He seemed to really enjoy the presents -- the highlights: a drum from Daniel's parents, a xylophone from my parents, and a rocking horse that Daddy designed and made!

Oh, and the cupcake! It went down with very little problem! Well except for the icing up the nose and the sneezing to prevent the actual inhalation of the dessert! :) He loved it! That night he was beside himself up at 10pm and then again at midnight with a horrible case of heartburn and a bellyache. It was so out of sorts for him that we actually contemplated taking him to the ER (we thought he was seizing for a bit). So the left over cupcakes had to be consumed by us! Bummer, right?!

I could put about 100 more pictures on here cause I love every single one of them. You can see them all by going to www.tamikagarscia.com; then go to "client"; scroll to "Henry -- 1 year!" and then password is "Henry" which is case sensitive so don't forget the capital "H."

They will be pictures that we cherish forever. It will be a day that we cherish forever (maybe not the night though). :) Seriously, though, what a great day.

HOLY #*@!

Yep, that's poop, everywhere! I'm guessing it was out of his diaper and then he decided to play with it cause that's what everyone would do, right?! What a mess! Good thing Daniel and I were both home and tagged team it to get Henry and his bedroom clean and disinfected and smelling like roses again! :) Next post won't be so messy. Promise. :)

Our retreat north

We have had so much going on here! Grandparents came up and we celebrated Henry's birthday, Daniel's friend Thaddeus came to visit for an extended weekend (more on both of these in the next post) and then our air conditioner broke! Just before our 102 degree day here!

We knew it was getting hot here so we decided to head north to Duluth for a couple of days till the temperatures were below boiling! :) We had a great time and really made lemonade out of our lemons. And it was only in the 50s there -- go figure! Here are some good pics that we got from our last minute getaway. Oh, and our AC is all fixed now -- it blew up inside! They guessed it was lightning or something, but lucky for us lightning struck 6 months before the warranty ran out! Lemonade...

Check back soon, I'll post the surprise that we found in Henry's crib this morning -- it's worth checking back! :)
